How to start a clothing resale business with little money

Reselling clothes is one of the cheapest businesses to start, because the stock costs little and you can buy it in small lots. But 'cheap' doesn't mean 'without a plan' — here's what it actually takes to begin.
The company. To buy wholesale anywhere, you need a registered business — serious suppliers sell business to business, with an invoice and a VAT number, not to private individuals. Registering a small company or sole trader takes a few days in most EU countries and costs little.
The starter stock. Don't spend everything on one expensive brand. At the start you need variety, to see what sells for you: a mixed lot of several brands gives you exactly that, at the lowest cost per item. A lot of 50 pieces at 4–6 € each is a starting stock under 300 €.
The markup. On outlet clothing, a common markup is 2x to 3x the buying price. A piece bought at 5 € sells at 15–20 € and still sits below the mall price for the same brand, so the customer feels they're getting a deal. You keep that margin only if your supplier hides the wholesale price from your end customers — which is why our prices show only after you register.
